LUSAKA Tigers kept their promotional bid alive after thrashing Mongu Youth Sports Academy to stay a point behind leaders Kabwe Warriors, who thumped struggling City of Lusaka 3-0.
Warriors lead the FAZ Division One South log after the Week 10 matches played with 26 points with Tigers occupying the second available place for promotion to the elite as Prison Leopards beat Matero United to maintain third place with 20 points.
Tigers were in a uncompromising mood as Malela Sapu scored a hat-trick with Levy Tembo and Boyd Mkandawire scoring a goal each as the home side ideal start to the season continued.
Warriors 3 City 0
At the Godfrey ‘Ucar’ Chitalu Stadium in Kabwe, hosts Warriors maintained their unbeaten run after thrashing City of Lusaka thanks to goals from Jacob Phiri, Langson Mbewe and Mwansa Nsofwa. City remained stuck on nine points.

Nampundwe compounded Kafue Celtic woes by a picking up vital away win on Kafue to move same on points with Prisons but an inferior goal difference relegates them into fourth place.

In the northern zone, Kalulushi Modern Stars strengthened their bid to bounce back to the elite league following a convincing display that saw them collect maximum points off Indeni in the week 10 fixtures.
Peckings Musonda was the hero of the day as he grabbed a brace to see his side move to 20 points at the summit of the table, one better than Lumwana Radiants who snatched a 1-0 win against Konkola Mine Police in Chililabombwe.
Roan 1 Zesco Luapula 0
Midfielder Victor Kashitu scored the only goal of the game as coach Hillary Makasa began his life at Roan United with a win over Zesco Luapula to be just two points off the pace in third position.
Kitwe 2 CB Buffaloes 0
Rupert Musonda and Isaac Lungu scored a goal apiece as Kitwe United made things worse for the Copperbelt Buffaloes, who have suffered three defeats in a row.
Other games saw Real Nakonde beat Chambishi 1-0 with Zesco Solwezi stunning Gomes at their home turf with an identical score while Kansanshi shared spoils with Minning Rangers after playing to a 1-1 draw.
First Quantum Minerals (FQM) and Mufulira Blackpool played to a barren draw, same as the game between Ndola United and Chindwin Sentries.
