Assembly 0 Zesco 1
TEN-MAN Zesco United jumped to the top of the MTN-FAZ Super League table after this hard fought win to open up a two-point lead over Zanaco who dropped points at Nkana following yesterday’s Week Nine fixtures.
Zesco lead the log on 20 points followed by Zanaco on 18 points while Power Dynamos and Nkwazi are tied on 16 points but in third and fourth places respectively.
As news filtered in at Woodlands Stadium that Nkana had equalised via a penalty against Zanaco, referee Audrick Nkole blew his whistle to end the game which was given six minutes of added time which felt like a year for the anxious Zesco players.
This match that could have gone either way, saw former international Misheck Chaile sent for an early shower after he lost his head and dangerously hacked Aaron Sakala in the 34th minute.
Zesco battled with a man down and Jackson Mwanza composed himself to score a deflected goal in first half added time.
The defeat left Assembly just above the relegation waters on eight points from nine matches.
Nkana 1 Zanaco 1
Nkana snatched a late equaliser to deny Zanaco their first away win at Nkana stadium in three years reports KALUMIANA KALUMIANA.
An 88th minute penalty conceded by defender Dominic Yobe after he tripped winger Shadreck Musonda in the box saved Nkana from certain defeat against a rugged Zanaco.
This is after Zanaco had stunned a boisterous Nkana crowd to silence in the 36th minute when Boyd Musonda’s superb grasscutter that eluded Rabson Muchelenganga when it slipped under his armpit on the near post.
Nkana threw all everything that they could at Zanaco but found man-of-match defender Ziyo Tembo in inspired form with his timely aerial interceptions.
Blades 0 Power 1
Power picked up a rare away win in Chililabombwe after beating Konkola Blades at Konkola Stadium thanks to a 90th minute goal from Jimmy Ndhlovu that handed the 2014 runner-up the three points. The win was Power’s first away to Blades since 2009.
Nkwazi 2 Eagles 1
Nkwazi’s steady rise to the top of the table continued as the ‘Policemen’ handed Green Eagles their second straight defeat of the season thanks to a brace by Lottie Nyimbiri while the visitors scored
through Adamson Mulawo. Eagles are on 10 points.
Wanderers 2 Dynamos 0
Mufulira Wanderers picked up their fourth win of the season after beating Lusaka Dynamos at Shinde Stadium in Mufulira to end the midlands side six match unbeaten run dating back to April 4.
Goals from Moses Nyambe and Eric Chibuye in the 11th and 75th minutes respectively handed them the vital win ahead of Wednesday’s away clash against Zanaco.
Arrows 3 Forest 1
At Nkoloma Stadium in Lusaka, SANDRA MWILA reports that Red Arrows ran riot thumping struggling Forest Rangers to move two places up the log on 11 points while the Ndola side remains in the relegation zone with seven points.
Arrows took the lead in the 17minute through a Mundia Lubinda header from a Festus Mbewe cross before Martin Sikaonga doubled the advantage five minutes later when he also headed in the ball.
It was no way attack as Mbewe saw his header go wide in the 11th minute before Evans Musonda’s effort hit the crossbar before Stanley Nshimbi also hit the crossbar in the 26th minute as Forest goalkeeper Morgan Phiri was left injured as he attempted to save and was replaced by Julius Mpundu.
Malar Besa reduced the deficit for Forest scoring in the 77th minute before Arrows keeper Danny Munyau denied Chikula Chingandu the equaliser in the 84th minute.
Striker Francis Kombe came off the bench to score in the 90th minute and ensure his side picked up maximum points.
Rangers 1 Napsa 2
Nchanga Rangers suffered their fourth successive defeat after losing in Chingola to remain in the relegation zone with seven points same as Napsa Stars, who inflicted the defeat.
Shadreck Mayembe scored a brace for struggling Napsa to hand them their second league win of the season while Emmanuel Banda scored Rangers’ consolation goal.
Nakambala 0 Buffaloes 1
In Mazabuka, JIM FIKOLOMA reports that Green Buffaloes started life without head coach Wedson Nyirenda on a winning note as Nakambala Leopards remained rock bottom of the table.
Buffaloes, who moved to 11 points, scored their only goal through Victor Simbule in the 51st minute after the Nakambala defenders were caught ball watching as the player controlled calmly controlled the ball before slotting in a shot past by keeper Moses Mapulanga.
Nakambala are still winless and on three points.
