A FIFTY FIVE –YEAR- OLD man of Kapiri Mposhi has died after his brother, 22, hit him on his head with an axe handle on suspicion that he practiced witchcraft.
In another suspected murder, a Kitwe based taxi driver aged 33, was discovered dead in his vehicle in Ndeke Village area, in the early hours of Sunday .
In the Kapiri Mposhi case, police identified the suspected killer as Cheelo Miyoba of Kabanga Forestry who was currently on the run after murdering his brother, Albert Miyoba.
It was alleged that he attacked the deceased with an axe handle while he was resting outside his house.
The body is currently in the Kabwe General Hospital mortuary.
Acting Central Province Police chief Edwin Bwanga said the incident happened on Monday this week and a manhunt was underway to apprehend the suspect.
“I can confirm that we are looking for a man who killed his brother on suspicion that he was practicing witchcraft, an axe handle was used in the act,” he said.
He appealed to members of the public not to take the law into their own hands and urged them to assist with information that could lead to the arrest of the assailant.
In the taxi driver killing incident, police on the Copperbelt discovered Shadreck Sichone’s body at Coaches Car Park and his wife Precious Mwaba aged 32, was now in their custody to assist with investigations.
Police suspect foul play, as the couple had quarrelled before Mr Sichone was found dead. He had bruises on the head.
Copperbelt Deputy Police chief, Byemba Musole said in an interview yesterday that Mr Sichone of house number 336 Ndeke Village was found dead in his car by the car park owner who alerted police.
“We suspect foul play. We have the deceased’s wife in police custody to help with investigations because the couple fought before Mr Sichone was found dead in his car,” Mr Musole said.
The body of the deceased was at the Kitwe Central Hospital mortuary and police investigations had been intensified.
