THE Zambia Motor Sport Association (ZMSA) yesterday received a combined donation of K75,000 towards hosting of the Automotive Equipment 2015 Zambia International Motor Rally that revs off on Friday.
Sky Trails Limited has offered a helicopter to evacuate any injured drivers during the rally at a cost of K25,000 while Pro-Watch will provide security satellite tracking for vehicles at a cost of K10, 500.
Pembe Flour Mills Limited has provided T-shirts for the rally members, reflective clothing for officials monitoring the rally and 10 gazebos for the event at a cost of K40, 000.
ZMSA vice president Sam Ching’ambu said he was happy with the sponsorship the rally was receiving and that so far K485, 000 has been raised towards the K500, 000 budget.
“We are happy with the sponsorship which has served us a lot of expenses. We are almost there with our K500, 000 budget and so far, we have raised K485, 000,” he said.
ZMSA technical director Muna Singh said the association had ensured that the rally would be safe.
Muna, a former African champion, said the safety team will have 35 people with 10 vehicles while 70 police officers would be deployed to look after the crowds.
The rally has attracted 29 drivers with Kenya’s Chatte Jaspreet being the only foreign driver who will battle it out against the likes of Jassy Singh, Muna Singh junior and Mohammed Essa.
