Letters to the Editor -LogoTHE desperation of many opposition leaders in Zambia today, has led them to talking and preaching of hate against our hard working President Edgar Lungu.
I thought to be an opposition leader or opposition cadre,  is to provide genuine checks and balances to the government of the day in this case,  the Patriotic Front(PF).
Our hard working President Lungu has really shown  quality  leadership by embracing all well-meaning Zambians, the  old and the  young,  from different opposition political parties. In short, President Edgar Lungu has in the history of Zambia, formed a very powerful all inclusive Government because  his Cabinet is made up of highly qualified people  from PF.  MMD and even UNPD.
He is like a father who doesn’t  segregate his many children in a home.
To the opposition, if you can’t beat them, reason with them by joining them, so just join  the winning team.
Bravo H.E Edgar Lungu
Bravo Patriotic Front
Nigel Robert Mpaketeni,
Former  NAREP National  Mobilisation Chairman.

Chingola council, ZRL move good

THE agreement reached by Zambia Railways Limited and Chingola Municipal Council to create a short cut route from Chikola to Lulamba by creating a railway crossing in the Chikola Loop area near Chikola SDA Church,  is a very positive  move.
This will reduce on time taken by both commuters and motorists from either townships.
Motorists will soon serve on fuel and time when this railway crossing road is completed.
This is surely a very positive gesture for the people of Chikola, Twatasha and Lulamba in that, it will now not be as  expensive to book a taxi from either side of the townships as before because the route would have been shortened by this undertaking.
I applaud both Zambia Railways and our municipality for this gesture and also congratulate Honourable Abel Mubambe for coming up with such an idea and advancing it to fruition.
We surely need such proactive leaders who should always think outside the box in order to develop our town.
Satisfied  Resident,
Chingola.

Mugabe right on Africa’s resources

THE assertion by Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe at the recent SADC meeting in Harare that as long as African nations continue exporting the continent’s vast natural resources in raw form, Africa is bound to continue its overdependence on Europe and Asia and its suffering is spot on.
African nations should strive to add value to its vast raw materials that have made developed nations what they are today for them to benefit from their natural resources.
Zambia is endowed with vast natural resources that we continue to export in raw form depriving us of the much need revenue. Mukula tree for example which has been a hive of smuggling lately is believed to have many benefits that can go a long way to earn this great nation more revenue.
Government should investigate thoroughly and find out why suddenly this species is rampantly being smuggled out and for what reasons and tap from the results.
African nations should therefore heed President Robert Gabriel Mugabe’s counsel to strive to add value to their natural resources before exporting them.
Wisdom Muyunda,
Chingola.
