HONOUR Janza says he is considering recalling midfielder Felix Katongo to the Chipolopolo that regroups today in Lusaka ahead of the COSAFA Senior Challenge Cup slated for South Africa this month.
Katongo plays for Al Ittihad in Egypt but is currently in the country training with Green Buffaloes.
Janza said yesterday that he was considering summoning Katongo to the squad that plays Malawi on May 10 at Nkoloma Stadium as part of preparations for COSAFA.
“Felix is in the country and is training with Green Buffaloes, so I am thinking of calling him to the squad if he agrees,” he said.
Katongo, a 2012 Africa Cup winner, last featured for the Chipolopolo during the international friendly against Japan on June 6, 2014 but struggled to maintain his place in the team.
Meanwhile, Janza said he has also summoned Red Arrows defender Joseph ‘Joliba’ Zimba and Green Buffaloes goal keeper Fred Silwimba to the squad.
“I have made two new inclusions to the squad to play Malawi and at the COSAFA tournament, I have summoned Joseph Zimba from Red arrows and Buffaloes goal keeper Silwiimba,” he said.
He said he has been monitoring the duo during the 2015 MTN/FAZ Super League and their performance has been impressing.
Meanwhile, the Under 23 squad also regroups today to kick start preparations for the 2015 African Championships that act as qualifiers for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.
Coach Fighton Simukonda has summoned a 26-member squad that begin their campaign for qualifiers that start in April. Zambia is on bye in the first round and awaits the winner between Kenya and Botswana that play on April 24.
