POLICE in Kapiri Mposhi have apprehended 10 people among them an ex-convict, who in the last one month have terrorised churches, courts and homes, stealing various variable items.
Central Province deputy police chief Edwin Bwanga said police also recovered offensive weapons suspected to have been used during the raids.
Mr Bwanga said during the operation, police recovered 12 machetes, six car batteries, nine blankets, three bicycles, eight speakers,10 duvet covers, 100 plates, three fridges, dining chairs, a laptop, photocopier, and radios, among others items from Zambia compound.
He said police apprehended one person and recovered a photocopying machine which was stolen from the court in Kapiri Mposhi.
It was the same person that led police to the recovery of the other goods and arrest of other nine suspects.
Mr Bwanga explained that police had in the last few weeks received reports of break-ins by an armed group in churches, houses and courts and various items were stolen.
He said among those apprehended is an escapee from the Kabwe Medium Security Prison in February this year, who was serving an eight-year jail term for theft.
Investigations have continued and police expect more goods will be recovered.
Some goods been sold by the suspects and some of them were recovered from the people they were sold to.
