PRESIDENT Edgar Lungu says he is aware of the growing trend by some people who are using State House staff to steal documents from his office.
Mr Lungu has since warned that he will sternly deal with the culprits who were behind the leakage of State House documents.
“Even the trend of people stealing documents from my office is being inspired by people who want to see me fail. But when I find them we will deal with them,” he said.
The President made the remarks at the Kenneth Kaunda International Airport yesterday before departure for Zimbabwe to attend the 34th Southern African Development Community meeting.
Mr Lungu said he was not moved with threats by the United Party for National Development to have his immunity lifted immediately after he leaves office because he had nothing to hide.
Mr Lungu said people who were bent on demonising him should realise that everyone was innocent until proven guilty.
“Do not judge people outside the courts of law. We are not dull and we know what is going on.
“I don’t mind my immunity being lifted. If that is the trend of the Zambian people to remove the immunity of their former leaders, I am game, why should l fear when I have nothing to hide?” he said.
He said the threats to remove his immunity, the stealing of documents from his office and distortion of information were all being orchestrated by people who wanted to see him fail.
Mr Lungu said Zambians had remained united and that there was only one Government in place.
Mr Lungu pledged to market and protect Zambia to ensure that the country benefited from its vast resources.
The President was seen off by Vice- President Inonge Wina, some Cabinet ministers, Secretary to the Cabinet Roland Msiska, service chiefs, party cadres and other senior Government officials.
