FIRST Republican President Kenneth Kaunda, who was discharged from hospital on Saturday, is today celebrating his 91st birthday.
Dr Kaunda would spend his birthday quietly at home with family members.??Senior executive officer in the office of the First president Cheswa Silwizya said in an interview yesterday that because he had just come out of hospital, Dr Kaunda would not participate in any activities for his birthday but spend it resting at home.
“It will just be low-key because he has just been discharged. So nothing has been planned. We will wait to hear from the doctors when it is possible for him to undertake any kind of activities,” Ms Silwizya said.
She said Dr Kaunda needed to fully recover and be fully rested before he could get into any kind of schedule.
Ms Silwizya, who is also Dr Kaunda’s daughter, said her father was completing his rest after his admission to hospital where he was admitted for a routine medical check-up.
She said Dr Kaunda was feeling much better and would share the cake with family members at home today.
