BARCLAYS Bank Zambia will continue its partnership with the farming community by providing financial support to boost crop production.
The bank’s managing director, Saviour Chibiya said the institution was aware of the challenges facing farmers in accessing financial support, hence the commitment to provide such intervention.
“Barclays Bank has been partnering with the farming community in helping provide resources for them to increase crop production.
This is because we understand the challenges that the farmers have faced in the past and we have various products that can assist to help improve their productivity levels,” Mr Chibiya said.
He said in an interview that agriculture was key to the country’s development, hence the bank’s stance to help farmers access various products that supported the sector’s growth.
Apart from providing finances, Barclays Bank was also educating farmers on how to manage their financial resources and in this vein it had provided assistance to more than 1,000 small-scale farmers.
The bank’s participation in the recently held Agric-Expo in Chisamba was one way of bringing its presence close to the farming community.
“We are interested in supporting farmers because we know that the land will feed thousands and because of that we will be there to offer not only finances but also educate the farmers on how to manage their resources,” he said.
