FORMER Lusaka District Commissioner Ashwell Kampengele has been arrested for using vulgar language.
Mr Kampengele, 50, was arrested yesterday for allegedly using insulting language towards Lusaka Province Permanent Secretary Stardy Mwale on April 8, 2015.
Zambia Police deputy spokesperson Rae Hamoonga said the incident happened at the Lusaka provincial administrative headquarters.
After the incident, Mr Kampengele is reported to have gone into hiding but handed himself to the police around 10:00 hours yesterday.
He is currently in police custody and will appear in court soon.
Mr Mwale also confirmed the incident but referred all queries to the police whom he said were handling the matter.
President Edgar Lungu last month dropped Mr Kampengele as Lusaka District Commissioner replacing him with Davison Mulenga.
