FORMER Zambia soccer team striker Dudley Fichite has been arrested for allegedly defiling a 10-year-old girl.
Fichite, who was until last season an assistant coach at Division One South side Riflemen, is believed to have committed the act in December last year in Kamwala South.
Police deputy spokesperson Rae Hamoonga said in a statement yesterday that Fichite, 36, a Staff Sergeant at Arakan Barracks has been arrested for allegedly defiling a minor and will appear in court soon.
Hamoonga said the girl went for a holiday in December last year at his residence and that whilst there, on a date unknown, Fichite got drunk and defiled her at night but the girl never revealed the ordeal to the aunt, Fichite’s wife.
But Hamoonga said that on March 25, the girl was taken to a clinic where she was found to have contracted some sexually transmitted disease.
Hamoonga said the matter was later reported to police the following day and Fichite was arrested on April 16, 2015 after having gone into hiding when the matter was initially reported to police.
Fichite, who last appeared in national colours in Zambia’s 1-0 victory against Liberia at Independence Stadium in 2004, also played for Green Buffaloes and Angola’s Primeiro de Agosto.
