GOVERNMENT has urged women who access empowerment funds to come up with innovative projects for them to expand and empower other women.
Ndola District Commissioner Rebby Chanda said there was need for women’s groups who access empowerment funds to work harder in expanding their projects in the communities.
He said empowerment funds were not meant to benefit members of various clubs and their families only but also other women in the communities they operated from.
“It is not all women in this country that can access empowerment funds from the Government and other stakeholders, those that have access should strive hard in their projects and empower their fellow women in the community they operate from,” he said.
Mr Chanda said this during the handover of two brick-making machines to Tubombeshe and Women of Hope Restoration Women’s clubs in Mushili Township in Ndola this week.
The two brick-making machines were procured by the Ministry of Community Development Mother and Child Health a cost of K30,000.
Mr Chanda said Government was committed to providing funds and facilitating access to social support services to the vulnerable women in society.
He said empowering women and youths in various skills and training was cardinal in the socio-economic development of the nation and further urged the beneficiaries to use the machines for their intended purposes.
