A SIXTY-FOUR-YEAR-Old man of Mkushi has died after he was allegedly beaten for confronting a man who spilled his beer.
Central Province deputy police chief Edwin Bwanga said the incident happened in Makonde Village, Chief Chitina’s area around 19:00 hours.
Mr Bwanga identified the man as Patson Chilimba whose body is awaiting postmortem and that the culprit ran away after the attack.
He said the suspect Jackson Changwe aged 25 picked a quarrel with Mr Chilimba after he spilled his beer and that after a confrontation, Changwe picked a pipe which he hit him with on his forehead several times.
“He managed to run away  after realising what he had done,” he said.
Meanwhile, a 46-year-old cyclist of Samfya has died while another sustained injuries after being hit by a motor vehicle.
Jonas Changwe of Chief Kalasa Mukoso in Samfya was hit by an unregistered Toyota Hilux at Musaika junction along Serenje-Samfya Road on Sunday around 16:00 hours.
Luapula Province police chief Webby Shula confirmed this in an Interview.
Mr Changwe died on the spot from head injuries, while his passenger identified as William Mwewa sustained multiple injuries and was admitted to Mansa General Hospital.
Mr Shula said the accident happened due to speeding by the driver Chishala Mbewe.
A Malawian driver died on the spot on Saturday after the truck he was driving overturned in Pemba District on the Lusaka-Livingstone Road.
Esau Nkhoma, 46, of Lilongwe, was driving a truck registration number NZL 756GT and trailer CRX 920GT belonging to Tortland Company.
Southern Province police chief, Mary Chikwanda confirmed the incident in an interview yesterday.
