NEWLY-APPOINTED Southern Province Permanent Secretary, Margaret Miyoba, has called on civil servants to work diligently in implementing various projects contained in this year’s national Budget.

Ms Miyoba, who is former ministry of Foreign Affairs Permanent Secretary has been swapped with Bert Mushala.

Speaking in Choma on Wednesday when she addressed civil servants, Ms Miyoba said Government had specific objectives to achieve through various national programmes.

She urged civil servants to play a critical role in executing Government programmes to improve the livelihood of people and that she would not condone laziness.

“I know what Government wants to achieve in this province in delivering massive development, this can only be done if you (civil servants) are focused and work diligently to realise Government policies,” she said.

Ms Miyoba, who has worked for different ministries in various capacities, said civil servants should evaluate themselves on the input rendered to enhance Government policies.

She said civil servants should be focused in spearheading the implementation of Zambia’s Sixth National Development Plan (SNDP) which contained Government policies for development.

She said Government policies were also contained in the Patriotic Front (PF) manifesto and it was essential that civil servants understood the document for successful implementation.

Ms Miyoba called for teamwork among heads of departments, saying prioritised infrastructure development in the province should be carried out effectively.
