FOOTBALL administrator Bruno Mukeya has bounced back as chairperson at the FAZ Division One North side Ndola United.
The former Zesco United chairperson takes over from Levis Mumba, who has stepped aside owing to work commitment at Ndola City Council where he is director of legal services.
Mukeya returns to the Ndola outfit where he served in the same capacity from 2011 to 2012 before he was replaced by Latife Zhino in 2013.
Club vice Secretary Mulonda Mbweteka confirmed the development in Ndola yesterday.
“I can confirm that Ndola United has a new chairperson and this is Mr Bruno Mukeya who has taken over from Mr Levis Mumba,” Mbweteka said.
Mukeya, who was unveiled to the player’s last week, has since been tasked with the responsibility of ensuring that the team is promoted to the MTN-FAZ super league next week.
His stint at Zesco saw the club reach the group stage of the CAF champions League in 2009.
“I am humbled to take up this appointment and I think with combined effort from everyone, we should be able to take the team far. I know that the task at hand is achievable but we have to sit down as a committee and look at the challenges the club is facing so that we can take necessary measures,” Mukeya said.
He said the club had talented players who were capable of inspiring the team to the top flight football.
“We have a good team in place but with the support and commitment from the executive committee and the players, we will get there (winning promotion),” he said.
