KAMWALA Magic women’s team at the weekend won the Midlands Volleyball Association (MIVA) Open tournament after beating Nkwazi.
The Tila Mvunga captained Kamwala side beat Nkwazi 3-1 winning the first 23-25 before losing the second set 25-18 but recovered well in the third set to win 21-25 then sealed the victory 21-25.
In the semi finals, Kamwala beat South Select 3-0 while Nkwazi overcame Buffaloes 3-1 to reach the finals.
Meanwhile, Green Buffaloes will battle it out with Nkwazi during the men’s semi finals while Green Eagles will face City of Lusaka at the University of Zambia (UNZA) sports hall this weekend.
MIVA chairperson Arnold Silumezi said Open tournament was the first out of the many tournaments lined up for this year.
He said MIVA will host the Heroes and Unity which would run from July 4 to 6 and Agricultural and Commercial Show tournament to be held in the Lusaka Showgrounds in August.
Silumezi said MIVA will also hold the Independence tournament in October and MIVA Closed tournament in November.
