A TWENTY-FIVE-YEAR-OLD woman of Kapiri Mposhi yesterday escaped lynching by an?instant justice mob after she was found with two small coffins containing charms.
The coffins were apparently hidden in one of the rooms of the house the woman has been renting and contained charms wrapped in red pieces of clothes.
Central Province Police chief Lombe Kamukoshi named the woman as Francisca Ilunga.?Ms Kamukoshi said the bizarre find was reported by Ilunga’s landlord, Diana Silungwe, aged 56, of Riverside Township.?The Central Province Police chief said besides the charms wrapped in red pieces of clothes in both coffins, white beads of various colours were found under Ilunga’s bed.?It was after Ms Silungwe had raised alarm that a mob from the neighbourhood descended on Ilunga, who was only saved by quick Police intervention .?Ilunga is being held in Police custody to assist with investigations. Meanwhile, two managers at Arizona Transport and Logistics have been arrested by Police in Lusaka for assault after allegedly beating up one of the drivers at the company.?Operations manager Webster Mulamfu, 44, and head of security Eric Nsofu, 23, were arrested yesterday after they were accused of beating up 41-year-old Ason Mumba for allegedly running away with one of the trucks.
