A NAMED senior police officer in Kabwe is allegedly on the loose chasing after married women.
The police officer has since reportedly assaulted a man of Chowa Township, whose home he was reportedly found in at an awkward hour.
His fellow male police officers and civilians have accused him of taking advantage of his position to intimidate them each time he is found flirting with their wives.
Central Province Police chief Lombe Kamukoshi could not confirm the reports but said the matter would be investigated.
In the latest incident, the officer was allegedly found in the house of the victim who had told his wife that he was going on a business trip when in actual fact he was setting a trap with a view to confirming reports that his wife had been cheating on him.
The man, whose names have been withheld, claimed that he came back home in the evening and, true to people’s reports, he found the police officer in his house.
It was at this point that he wrestled with him and, in the process was assaulted by the senior police officer.
The man said the police officer later got away in his vehicle but only after he was punched in the face. He claimed that he reported the matter to the police but nothing had since been done to the ‘randy’ senior police officer.
But some police officers complained that they were disappointed with the behaviour of the boss who had often got away with such acts but appealed to Ms Kamukoshi to bring discipline and sanity in the service.
The offices said such acts were sending wrong signals to the public the police were serving as law-enforcers and wondered how the service could preach good moral behaviour when some of its senior officers behaved in such a manner.
Some police sources said because of the behaviour of the officer, many marriages were on the verge of breaking up.
