VICE-PRESIDENT Inonge Wina has said that the fourth general assembly of the Association of African Public Service Commissions (AAPSComs) currently being hosted in Livingstone will inspire improvement in the public service’s delivery services to Zambians.
Ms Wina said Zambia and Livingstone City in particular was currently hosting an important continental conference whose main mission is to improve service delivery in the public services in Africa.
She was speaking in Livingstone yesterday upon her arrival at Harry Mwaanga Nkumbula International Airport.
Ms Wina, who arrived aboard a Zambia Air Force (ZAF) plane around 11: 00 hours, is in Livingstone to officially open the AAPSComs gathering.
The theme for the event is “Harnessing the energy and commitment of African Public Service Commissions to promote and build the African governance architecture”.
The Vice-President was accompanied by Lusaka Province Minister Obvious Mwaliteta and she was received by Secretary to Cabinet Rowland Msiska, Southern Province Minister Nathaniel Mubukwanu, Livingstone Member of Parliament Lawrence Evans, Livingstone Mayor Milford Maambo, acting Town Clerk Chabala Chanda, senior Government officials and Patriotic Front (PF) officials among others.
“This meeting is very important for Zambia to be hosting as we will have the highest ranking civil servants attending. At the end of this meeting, we believe we will see more improvement in the service delivery to the Zambian people through our public service,” she said.
Ms Wina, said she would also visit a few developmental projects taking place in Zambia’s tourist capital.
Mr Mubukwanu said the ruling party was still alive and united in Southern Province.
“There is political stability in the province except for 17 people who have died in a road accident in Mazabuka this morning,” he said.
