Lusaka 0 Arrows 20
POWERHOUSE Lusaka suffered a humiliating home defeat against champions Red Arrows that left them rooted bottom of the National Rugby League (NRL) table after the Week Five matches.
Champions Red Arrows, who maintained their unbeaten run, are still top with 19 points followed by Nkwazi on 17 points, Chibuluma are on 16 points as ‘Men at Work’ Diggers returned to winning ways to move up to nine points same with Green Eagles.
Lusaka, smarting from a 15-3 defeat against Chibuluma last weekend, failed to pick themselves up against their bitter rivals who posted an emphatic victory that left the home side still searching for a first league win.
Simon Kapindu punished his former club scoring a try as Kabwe Musonda and David Chalwe also added a try each but Terry Kaushiku could only make one conversion before scoring a penalty. Lusaka are bottom with two points.
Nkwazi 23 Eagles 10
Nkwazi maintained their steady chase for the title thumping Eagles to remain two points behind Arrows thanks to four tries from Laston Mukosa, who scored a brace, MacDonald Mashawa and Andre Andite.
The ‘Policemen’ could, however, just make one conversion through Mukosa but that mattered less as Nkwazi claimed a bonus point in the win.
Chibuluma 15 Mufulira 12
Surprise package Chibuluma continued to pile pressure on Arrows after picking a slender but deserved win over Mufulira who remained on eight points. Kennedy Bwalya was the hero of the day scoring five penalties to propel his side to victory.
Prisons 13 Diggers 16
Diggers ended their four-match losing streak after a well-deserved but narrows win over fellow league strugglers Prisons, who remained second from bottom on six points.
Kabwela Mulenga scored a try that was converted by Patrick Chanda, who later scored three penalties, while Prisons scored two unconverted tries and a penalty.
