By ELIAS CHIPEPO –
BOTTOM placed ‘Powerhouse’ Lusaka take on champions and National Rugby League (NRL) leaders Red Arrows desperately in search of a first win to lift them off the basement of the log.
Chibuluma and Nkwazi, both on 12 points and three behind Arrows, will be eyeing victorious and hope for a Lusaka favour as top slot is up for grabs as any of the three teams will finish top by end of today’s Week Four matches.
Troubled ‘Men At Work’ Diggers guest fellow strugglers in Prison away in Kabwe in a match that will see the two sides battle for full points in their quest to stay afloat in the league.
Lusaka v Arrows
The 2015 Zambia Rugby Union (ZRU) seasons has come full of surprises and who would have predicted Lusaka to be bottom of the table after four games played.
Arrows, however, started their campaign on a high until they were slowed down by Nkwazi last weekend when the two sides battled to a 6-all draw.
Despite having played a game less, Lusaka, who suffered a shocking 15-3 thumping against Chibuluma, will need to be at their best to pick up full points off the champions.
Chibuluma v Mufulira
Chibuluma head into this fixture bubbling of confidence after picking up good results off big guns like Lusaka and Diggers and should have no difficulties beating an equally improving Mufulira.
But Chibuluma must be wary of the threat their visitors, who are on seven points, poses going into this encounter that will results boosting each teams’ standing on the log.
Nkwazi v Eagles
Nkwazi seem to be back to their old selves of last season and having drawn with Arrows last week will give them impetus to go all out against Green Eagles in their quest to close up at the top.
Eagles started the league well but lost pace in the past matches to remain on nine points and a win might see them overlap Nkwazi on the league standing and this promises to be an exciting match worth match going by the play of the two sides.
Prison v Diggers
Prisons would not have asked to play Diggers at no other time than now when the Kitwe giants are embroiled in on and off the field wrangles that have seen the club record three straight defeats.
The situation at Diggers is desperate such that coach Robertson ‘Plough’ Kang’ongwe has opted to field players from the Under-18 squad after senior players boycotted training and playing.
It will be exciting to see the outcome of this time as fans have been accustomed to Diggers losing their matches or will that jinx come to an end or will Prisons cause another 2015 upset?
Meanwhile, in the B league, Konkola take on Nchanga with Green Buffaloes hosting Roan while ‘Killer Bees’ Ndola Wanderers host Kitwe Playing Fields (KPF).
