NKANA coach Masauso Mwale says he is not worried about Chris ‘Gazza’ Tembo appointment to opponents Mbabane Swallows bench ahead of the two sides 2014 CAF Champions League clash.
The Swazi club has handed Tembo a five-month deal primarily to help plot Nkana’s downfall when they meet on February 8 over two legs of their CAF Champions League preliminary round tie.
Mwale said in an interview yesterday in Kitwe that Tembo’s presence at Swallows would not alter their strategy for the two leg tie.
“I congratulate him. But first he has to settle down, know the players, roll-out his football philosophy. Otherwise for us it does not change anything, we are preparing to win and no amount of anything will divert our attention. His appointment has no bearing on our ambition,” Mwale said.
Swallows will be hoping to break their duck against Zambian opposition after Zanaco ejected them at the same stage of the 2013 edition of the competition.
Meanwhile, Mwale said he was not worried about Nkana’s defeats in their last two successive pre-season matches.
Nkana on Monday lost 2-1 to DR Congo club Don Bosco at Arthur Davies Stadium in Kitwe just after Mamelodi Sundowns beat them 1-nil last Thursday at the same venue.
“It has been a wonderful experience that we are playing high profile teams like Don Bosco who are also playing in the Confederation Cup,” Mwale said.
“Their preparations are at a higher level and tactically the way they were playing, the way they were using the ball, we learnt a lot from that from the high level of players we have faced and I think we can only get better,” he added.
Meanwhile, Nkana this Thursday travel to DR Congo to take part in a three-day four-club tournament in Lubumbashi that will involve Don Bosco, TP Mazembe and Zesco United.
