Chibuluma 15 Lusaka 3
CHIBULUMA stunned ‘Powerhouse’ Lusaka to close the gap on National Rugby League (NRL) leaders Red Arrows to just points as troubled ‘Men At Work’ Diggers tumbled to their third successive defeat.
The remarkable Week Four win saw a revived Chibuluma move up to 13 points to reduce the gap on Arrows, who were held to a draw by Nkwazi, to just two points while the ‘Policemen’ are on 11 points.
There was a first win for struggling Prisons who beat Mufulira 6-3 to pick up first full points of the season.
In Kalulushi, Gift Kabeya and Wezi Zulu scored a try each but Kenny Bwalya could only manage one conversion though he made amends scoring a penalty to pick up a shock win over the former league winners, who are still searching for their first league win.
Arrows 6 Nkwazi 6
Nkwazi seem to have rediscovered their 2014 form after holding the champions to a draw at their own backyard in a tightly contested match played at the Yotamu Muleya Rugby Field in the Lusaka showgrounds.
Hard working Terry Kaushiku converted two penalties for Arrows as Laston Mukosa equally did the same for Nkwazi as the two sides shared spoils.
The on-going wrangles at Diggers Rugby Football Club (DRFC) have continued taking a toll on the club with senior players boycotting match as the beleaguered side endured a third straight loss.
Eagles were the latest side to inflict defeat on Diggers after the Kitwe side lost to Chibuluma and Mufulira following their Week One hard fought win over Nkwazi.
The home side dominated a youthful Diggers side with Tedias Chipoya accounting for two tries from which Evance Chewe converted one while Diggers got on the scoresheet through faithful Patrick Chanda, who scored a penalty.
