Road Development Agency (RDA) chief executive officer Bernard Chiwala has been dropped.
Mr Chiwala has been replaced replaced by Kanyuka Mumba, who was until now, RDA’s director of construction and rehabilitation.
This was the second time Mr Chiwala was serving as head of the RDA, as he served in the same position following his appointment soon after the Patriotic Front Government, came into power in 2011.
He was then redeployed to the Ministry of Transport, Works, Supply and Communications as permanent secretary in 2013, before being dropped last year.
Acting Board chairperson Charles Sipanje, who is also Ministry of Transport, Works, Supply and Communications Permanent Secretary, announced the changes yesterday.
The board has directed the new RDA Chief Executive Officer to speed up road construction projects.
“The board directed Mr Mumba to ensure that the Link Zambia 8000, Pave Zambia 2000, the L400 and other projects were speeded up,” Mr Sipanje said.
He said the board had also directed Mr Mumba to settle all outstanding matters with contractors and that opportunities should also be given to local contractors.
