A HOUSEWIFE of Kitwe’s Nkana East residential area has sustained serious injuries after being battered by her husband.
Sharon Kalunga, 35, sustained injuries after her husband hit her with a plank all over the body at the weekend.
Ms Kalunga , who is admitted to Kitwe Central Hospital (KCH), said her husband was in the habit of beating her even when they differed over petty issues.
She sustained a deep cut on the head and injuries all over her body.

Ms Kalunga said she does not want to go back to her matrimonial home for fear of losing her life at the hands of her husband.
“I was beaten with a plank and blood was coming out all over, I do not want to go back to the house because he will kill me,” she said.
Ms Kalunga who has not reported the incident to the police, however said she does not want to see her husband go to jail because their child would suffer if he was to be imprisoned.
She however, said she would like to see him be disciplined by being locked up even for a few days.
KCH spokesperson Grey Chishimba described Ms Kalunga’s condition as stable.
Meanwhile, a 66-year-old woman of Katondo Township in Kabwe district yesterday told the court that she hit her neighbour with a pot in self defence after he kicked her.
Esnart Nkoma is accused of assaulting John Mutesi of the same area after a misunderstanding.
