ONLY 11 players reported for the Chipolopolo training yesterday ahead of Sunday’s international friendly match against Rwanda at the Heroes National Stadium in Lusaka.
This will be the first match the Chipolopolo will play since their first round exit at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) finals in Equatorial Guinea.
Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) communications manager Nkweto Tembwe said in an interview that 11 locals had trooped into camp and that more were expected today.
From the provisional 26-member squad coach Honour Janza called, just five players are foreign based, while another six are out with the Zambia under-23 that drew with Nigeria in a Congo Brazzaville 2015 All-Africa Games qualifier in Abuja.
Meanwhile, the fitness of Bruce Musakanya is one that will be of question as the Red Arrows’ midfielder was left out of the team that drew with Nigeria due to hamstring.
The foreign based players include the TP Mazembe trio of team captain Rainford Kalaba, Kabaso Chongo and Given Singuluma together with Zimbabwe and South Africa based stars in Aaron Katebe and Bornwell Mwape, respectively.
