MADISON Financial Services (MFS) yesterday donated US$10, 000 towards hosting of the 2015 Zambia Sugar Open Golf Tournament slated for April 28 to May 3 at the Lusaka Golf Club.
Madison General Insurance managing director Chabala Lumbwe said his firm was delighted to be part of the tournament which will provide a platform to network with various companies and individuals.
“We are a diverse group and this tournament gives us an opportunity to network. If we can’t network, our business can’t grow too. It’s also an opportunity to sale ourselves especially that the tournament will be televised on Super Sport,” he said.
Zambia Sugar Open chairperson Roy Penney thanked MFS for the donation and assured them of great benefits from the tournament that will gobble US$ 500, 000 and will have the prize money of R1.5 million.
“This is the beginning of a great partnership and I hope you will continue with us and the tournament will offer you an opportunity to network with other companies and definitely entice more clients, “he said.
He said the organising committee was working flat out to ensure that it delivers a memorable event and that 22-year-old Cosmas Mufaya, a Zambian golfer based in Newcastle, England, has been invited to take part.
Madalitso Muthiya and Dayne Moore will be among the Zambian golfers that will take part but Penny said a full field of 144 golfers will soon be announced.
The Zambia Sugar Open will start two days after the Mopani Copper Mines/Redpath Mining Zambia Open Championship that will be held at the Nkana Golf Club from April 23 to 26.
