GOVERNMENT has admonished former Church of God overseer John Mambo for doubting the authenticity of President Edgar Lungu’s latest medical report after treatment in South Africa.
Chief Government spokesperson Chishimba Kambwili said in a statement yesterday that it was unfortunate that Bishop Mambo, a man of God, could give aspersions about the President’s health.
Bishop Mambo was quoted doubting the fitness of the President saying, “State House Spokesperson Amos Chanda should desist from informing the nation on the President’s health because he is not a doctor”.
Mr Kambwili, who is also Information and Broadcasting Services Minister, said Government went out of its way to ensure people are updated about President Lungu’s health, a feat which was unprecedented.
“This is why we get disappointed when people who are supposed to unite the nation like Bishop Mambo are used to pour scorn on Government’s goodwill.
“When Government is quiet, the likes of Bishop Mambo are quick to accuse us of being secretive, when we talk we are accused of not saying the truth,” he said.
