CHONGWE Member of Parliament (MP) Sylvia Masebo has told the court that she has no intentions of opposing a divorce petition by her husband Dick Masebo.
The former Tourism minister has since consented to her husband’s petition and told the Lusaka High Court to go ahead and dissolve their marriage.
Mr Masebo, a Lusaka business executive, in January this year sued his wife for divorce.
Mr Masebo of Joseph Mwila road, Rhodespark in Lusaka, wants his marriage with Sylvia dissolved on grounds that it had broken down irretrievably.
He wants the court to order for property settlement and that each party should bear the costs of the proceedings.
The couple was lawfully married on October 4, 1986 at the Cathedral of the Holy Cross in Lusaka.
After the celebration of their marriage, the couple lived together in Lusaka and has one son between them aged 27.
Mr Masebo told the court that their marriage has broken down irretrievably because they have lived apart from August 26, 1997 to date.
He made no proposals for financial provision for Ms Masebo in the event of a decree nisi being granted.
According to the acknowledgement of service form signed by Ms Masebo and filed in the principal registry, she confirmed to the court the receipt of petition for divorce from her husband on January 28, 2015.
She told the court that she has no intention of defending the case as such she was consenting to a divorce to be granted.
She said that she would not wish to be heard on claim in the petition for costs, custody or any other claim.
