THE Zambia Bureau of Standards (ZABs) has urged women to be quality conscious when procuring various products and ensure that they meet the required Zambian standards.
ZABs head of marketing and public relations Hazel Zulu said it was important for women to be alert when procuring various products to ensure safety of their family members.
Ms Zulu said this in Lusaka during the International Women’s day that women should be quality conscious whenever they are buying different products for their families.
This is because women are the ones who manage and take care of the household budget and buy various necessitates for their homes.
“Women should take care to read the details on the packaging of the products, they should mind the storage and handling of the products by shop owners and also look out for other details like expiry dates and origin of a product,” Ms Zulu said.
She said women should be alert and look out for details because products that did not meet the required Zambian standards may be harmful to the health and safety of their families and the nation at large.
Ms Zulu said this was also detrimental to national development.
“We appeal to our women countrywide to take the lead and be our ambassador by being quality conscious and inculcate standards awareness from the household level,” Ms Zulu said.
