UNITED Party for National Development (UPND) president Hakainde Hichilema has wished President Edgar Lungu a quick recovery.
Mr Hichilema said in a message of goodwill that the UPND was sad to have received news of President Lungu’s illness.
“We are sorry to have received the sad news of President Lungu’s illness while officiating at a national observance. As UPND and all well-meaning Zambians, we sincerely call for his quick recovery and pray to God for mercies,” he said.
This is according to a statement issued by the UPND information team yesterday.
Mr Hichilema said the UPND was also praying for President Lungu’s family and the PF to remain strong during this moment.
Meanwhile, MMD president Nevers Mumba has commended Government and State House for the good manner they have handled the President’s illness.
Dr Mumba said in an interview that it was good that State House was giving updates on the issue and therefore was being transparent.
“I must commend State House for the regular updates which are important because this prevents public speculation,” he said.
Dr Mumba said the authorities should continue with the proper handling of the President’s illness.
He also said the Church and all Zambians should pray for his successful treatment and recovery.
