BANC ABC has increased its sponsorship package for Green Buffaloes to K300,000 ahead of the 2015 MTN-FAZ Super Division League.
The bank’s managing director, Clergy Simatyaba said Banc ABC decided to increase its sponsorship from K200,000 last year to help motivate Buffaloes to fight for glory.
Simatyaba said this on Friday when the bank unveiled its sponsorship package for Buffaloes at the Zambia Army Headquarters at the Arakan Barracks in Lusaka.
He said despite Buffaloes’ poor performance last year, which saw the army side finish 10th on the log, the bank still believed the team had what it takes to challenge for the league title.
Simatyaba said the bank would be giving Buffaloes K3,000 monthly fuel allowance whenever they were playing an away game.
He said through provision of fuel allowance, the team was expected to arrive on time for away assignments.
“We still have confidence that Buffaloes will deliver results despite their last season performance. We hope our sponsorship will motivate the club to work even harder this year. The sponsorship package covers sports equipment that includes training and playing kit,” he said.
He said the bank’s desire was to see Buffaloes rekindle its lost glory and participate in the continental championship.
Zambia Army Deputy Commander Topply Lubaya thanked Banc ABC for the sponsorship despite Buffaloes’ poor performance last season.
“The performance of the team last season was not pleasing both to us as the army and you our corporate sponsors. The dismal performance of the club last season could be attributed to a whole range of factors. But you still thought it wise to sponsor the team and the army command is very grateful,” Major General Lubaya said.
Lubaya, who is also Chief of Staff, said the sports kit would go a long way in addressing the challenges the club was facing.
