CENTRAL Province Minister Davies Chisopa has said Government will speed up construction of public infrastructure in newly created districts in order to benefit citizens.
The minister has also threatened that civil servants resisting to move to the new districts will be replaced with other qualified people, especially once necessary facilities are in place.
Mr Chisopa said the creation of districts would be meaningless if those tasked with the responsibility of ensuring services are taken closer to the people, are reluctant to assist the Government realise its dream.
He was speaking when he toured Luano District office’s construction site.
Mr Chisopa who was accompanied by Central Province Permanent Secretary Edwidge Mutale, said civil servants who are not ready to move risk loosing their jobs.
“When I say that civil servants need to relocate to the newly created districts, I mean just that but if others are not ready we will have no choice but to replace them,” he said.
Government is in a hurry to develop Luano and other parts of the country but would not allow any person to derail it.
He said rehabilitation of Masansa-Mpula, and Kabwe-Mpula road would soon commence and that the process is currently at tendering stage.
Ms Mutale expressed commitment to ensuring infrastructure development embarked on especially in newly created districts are implemented and that Luano was a shining example of works done so far and civil servants have since moved on site.
She said Luano District office was operating in tents but had now constructed temporary shelter and that the provincial administration would continue to give support to the new district and ensure the projects succeed.
Luano District Commissioner Christopher Chibuye said there is need to consider giving areas such as Luano, vehicles suitable for the bad terrain.
He also appealed for funding to be released on time to allow smooth operations.
