Cop, cab drivers in court for aggravated robberies

A KITWE Police officer and two taxi drivers arrested for a spate of aggravated robberies have appeared in court.
Billy Mfula, 24, a policeman of house number A136, Kitwe East police camp, Chishala Mwansa, 39, a taxi driver of Kwacha Township and his counterpart Joseph Bwembya,  29, also of Kwacha were arrested after they staged a robbery at a Casino on Kantanta Street where they snatched K193, 550 from a business executive.
The three yesterday appeared in a Kitwe magistrate court for explanation of the charge.
In count one, the trio on November 8, 2013, in Kitwe and whilst armed with firearms, stole K31,000 cash, US$3,800, two bags, one finger ring, four passports, an Ipad, a cellphone and one flash disk altogether valued at K83,750.
Furthermore, the three are alleged to have at the time of committing the offence threatened violence on Huang Jianlan.
In the second count, Mfula and Mwansa,  on December 26, in Kitwe, whilst armed with firearms  stole K110, 000 cash from Xiong Ming.
The matter was adjourned to March 6, 2015 for another mention while the state awaits instructions from the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.
