A SEVETEEN-YEAR-OLD girl clad in a nurse’s uniform has gone on rampage in Kabwe, swindling people of their hard earned cash on the pretext that she is recruiting people to work as casual workers at Kabwe General Hospital.
Meanwhile, police in Chitambo are holding a 50-year-old man for allegedly beating to death his 21-year-old son who was fighting with his younger brother.
The bogus recruiter, who was apprehended in the Kabwe city centre clad in a student nurse’s uniform yesterday, caused commotion as police were apprehending her.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Edwin Bwanga said preliminary investigations indicate that the girl had been collecting between K1,000 and K1,500 from youths on the pretext that she would assist them in getting employed as casual workers at the hospital.
The girl had so far collected more than K19,000 from the unsuspecting youths and dockets from different complainants have since been opened.
In Chitambo, Katimba Kunda is alleged to have picked a pounding stick and hit his son in the head as he tried to separate two of his children who were fighting.
Mr Bwanga said the incident happened on Thursday around 16;00 hours and identified the deceased as Emmanuel Kunda who died at Chitambo hospital where he was rushed.
The suspect is currently in custody awaiting the postmortem results.
