A MAN yesterday died when he jumped out of an overturning bus, after it careered off the Ndola-Kitwe dual carriageway.
Sixteen other people aboard the same bus suffered injuries after it overturned at Kasongo area near Luanshya turn-off.
The accident happened at 14:20 hours due to speeding by the driver of the Higer bus registration number ACZ4562, owned by Mazhandu Family Bus Services.

The bus was moving from Ndola to Kitwe and when it reached Kasongo, the driver lost control because the road was slippery after heavy rains.
As the bus careered off the road, one passenger jumped out through the window.
As he hit the ground, the bus overturned and crushed him.
The man suffered injuries to the head and his body was retrieved and taken to Ndola Central Hospital (NCH).
Meanwhile, sixteen other passengers on the bus, among them a 7-month-old baby boy, suffered injuries and were evacuated to NCH for medical attention.
Copperbelt police chief Joyce Kasosa who confirmed the accident, said the driver of the bus had been identified as Lonny Kalyanjele 58, of Chawama Township in Lusaka.
Mr Kalyanjele sustained a deep cut on the cheek and was among those taken to NCH for treatment.
“The driver of the bus has since been charged with one count of causing death by dangerous driving and will appear in court soon,” Ms Kasosa said.
