NKANA are undertaking a trial run of a Quick Response Code (QR Code) ticketing system at Nkana Stadium in Kitwe.
The 12-time champions set a milestone over the weekend by a Zambian club with the introduction of the tap-and-go system that they used during last Saturday’s pre-season friendly against ‘Mighty’ Mufulira Wanderers at Nkana Stadium in Kitwe.
Nkan spokesperson Cephas Sinyangwe said in an interview that Saturday’s trial run was very successful but did not state how much the system was worth.
“We are in the process of introducing a permanent electronic ticketing system at Nkana which will enable us pre-sale match tickets at designated outlets,” Sinyangwe said.
The system has stadium security armed with wireless hand-held scanners that read the unique QR Code printed on each ticket sold.
“The Nkana vs Mighty game was a trial run. We want to improve our gate revenue collection which we think is currently below expected levels. This will also improve crowd handling during matches because we will be pre-selling the tickets,” Sinyangwe said.
