‘MIGHTY’ Mufulira Wanderers coach Manfred Chabinga is certain the former Zambian league champions will survive demotion following Saturday’s performance in their 2-all pre-season draw away at Nkana.
Nkana rallied from 2-nil at half time to finish level with their old arch-rivals at Nkana Stadium in Kitwe.
The friendly was Wanderers first pre-season game since they kicked off preparations for the 2015 campaign four weeks ago as they return to top flight football this year for the first time since 2005.
“Wanderers will remain in the Super League. The team is not going to be relegated. The performance against Nkana is encouraging and I think the boys will perform wonders,” Chabinga said.
Wanderers took a 2-0 halftime lead through Fumbeni Muwowo and Moses Nyambe in the 37th and 41st minutes respectively before Felix Nyaende pulled one back for Nkana in the 66th minute before Given Sinyangwe headed in the equaliser.
Nkana coach Betson Chambeshi said the friendly was very competitive after picking up their first draw following earlier pre-season friendly wins over Napsa Stars and Kitwe United.
“It wasn’t a training game it was a real game and I was happy with the way the boys came out. We were down two-nil and the boys fought back and showed endurance and hope they maintain the same spirit,” he said.
