NEWLY-APPOINTED Agriculture and Livestock Minister Given Lubinda has pledged to embrace all the relevant key players for the sector to improve.
Mr Lubinda said that he would have a listening ear approach to help resolve some of the challenges affecting the agriculture sector.
He said that he had a stint with agriculture in the past as he once worked for the Farmers’ Co-operative Union and also worked as a programmes officer.
Mr Lubinda has since promised to work with all stakeholders so that the approach to agriculture was seen differently.
“We need to look at agriculture in different aspects as we also need to look at exportable horticulture products, and also need to look at bumper harvest in different crops such as cassava and groundnuts.”
“I am not a stranger to Agriculture as I have a training in this field and also worked at the Co-operative Union ,” Lubinda said.
He said he was still consulting with the various technocrats and would soon address a Press briefing on what he hoped to do to the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock.
He said that he would continue from where his predecessors left and would not claim to know the solution to this sector.
Mr Lubinda has thanked President Edgar Lungu for recognising his abilities and appointing him Minister in this sector.
“I am grateful to the President for recognising my abilities and confidence to be appointed to this important sector of our country, and I am determined not to let the country down,” he said.
