THE Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) has arrested two men of Nakonde for being in possession of US$3,500 counterfeit notes.
Jerry Kabayo, 25, a taxi driver of Makoma village in Nakonde has been arrested and jointly charged with Linos Kunda, 26, a driver of Katozi village in the same area for being in possession of $3,500 counterfeit notes in form of $100 bills.
DEC public relations officer Theresa Katongo said the duo was intercepted at Pensulo Checkpoint in Serenje district enroute to Ndola.
The Commission in North-Western Province has arrested John Mukanda, a peasant farmer of Nyinyoni area in Mwinilunga District for unlawful cultivation of fresh cannabis plants weighing 680 kilogrammes.
“Also arrested in the same district is Naclay Katoka, 29, of Musele hill for trafficking in 9.003 kilogrammes of loose cannabis,” Ms Katongo said.
The Commission in Central Province arrested Davies Milambo, 34, of Ntala farms along Kapiri-Ndola road for unlawful cultivation of fresh cannabis plants weighing 385 kilogrammes.
“In Southern Province, Morgan Nakupaisa, 27, a peasant farmer of Silewu village in Kalomo district has been arrested for unlawful cultivation of fresh cannabis plants weighing 28.21 kilogrammes.
All suspects will appear in court soon,” Ms Katongo added.
