George Lwandamina NewBy MOSES CHIMFWEMBE –

GEORGE Lwandamina has said Zesco United will do Zambia proud in the 2015 Confederation of African Football (CAF) Champions League this weekend.
The Zambian champions today leave for the mountain Kingdom of Swaziland to start their campaign when they face Mbabane Swallows in the preliminary round, first leg of the competition.
Lwandamina said yesterday that Zesco are fully prepared for the Swallows’ challenge on Sunday.
He said producing positive results in the first leg will set the tone for the return match billed for Levy Mwanawasa Stadium a fortnight later.
“So far so good, the players have been shaping up very well and we are going to Swaziland only for positive results because we know the target ahead of us. The most important thing is to take every game as it comes,” Lwandamina said.
Zesco commenced their preparations last month and warmed for the competition with friendly matches against Ferroviaro De Beira of Mozambique and Mamelodi Sundowns of South-Africa in Johannesburg before participating in the four-team pre-season tournament in DR Congo.
During the transfer window, the Zesco mentor beefed up his squad with talented players like Misheck Chaile, Humphrey Maseneko, Juma Liuzio, David Odhiambo and Ayo Oluwafemi.
Lwandamina reiterated that his team’s target of winning the continental trophy was attainable.
He described the morale amongst his players as high and that everyone was looking forward for the game.
“If we are to achieve our target, we have to deal with the opponents at hand first and the players are geared for that. The new players that have joined us are blending well in the Zesco system.
I can only appeal to the Zambian’s to rally behind the team because this about the country and not just Zesco. We are not going to disappoint the country,” he said.
