HELLO, it’s almost Valentine’s Day and I bet love is in the air for most of you.
It’s the season when shops inflate chocolate and rose flower prices, when red is in the colour to be seen in or not seen in for those rebelling against valentines.
Everyone is expectant of gifts e ladies lets be (honest) and the poor hapless gentleman will undoubtedly stand in shop aisles trying to decide whether to get chocolate or roses, perfume or a teddy bear.
The women will probably encounter the same challenge trying to figure out what to buy.
One of the biggest challenges I think that most people face on Valentine’s Day is what to wear.
There is no clear cut answer for that except I guess to say it depends where you are going with your beau.
I know for most couples a romantic dinner is usually in the cards so if that is what you have planned then .
Makeup of course is a key element unless you have perfect blemish free skin.
Wiki How says :
“Unless you want a more daring sexy look, only wear subtle eye make-up on Valentine’s Day. Although pink is associated with Valentine’s Day, avoid pink eye make-up as it can make your eyes look red and tired.
You cannot bother with eyeshadow at all but if you want to, then if you have green eyes, opt for subtle tones of purple. If you have blue eyes, use gold and beige colours, and if you have grey eyes, use cooler tones. Finally, if you have hazel or brown eyes, apply warm tones, browns and bronzes.”
In terms of lipstick the tones you wear are highly dependent what look you are aiming for for instance if you want a daring sexy look then use a red lipstick (the proper red for your skin tone) and if it’s a girly look then try and use a pink or coral colour.
If your eyes are highly dramatic then apply a nude shade of lipstick or just some lip gloss and you are good to go.
Smell good always and especially on Valentine’s day just ensure that it’s a light perfume and not one that overpowers the whole room you are in.
If its dinner that you going to then ladies wear a slightly formal outfit or a fiery red dress pair it with comfortable heels (or cute pumps) and carry a clutch.
Gentlemen wear a smart casual outfit, match the colour of your belt to your shoes, shave and ensure that you smell good.
Its not fair to let your lady be the only one making an effort.
If it’s a movie then wear something that’s comfortable but stylish, skinny jeans with a cute top and flat shoes (or heels if you prefer that).
Men like I said make an effort, your weekend outfit of shorts and sloppy tshirt will not work on Valentine’s day.
I know some people might go out of town for picnics or brails or boat cruises then I suggest shorts for the ladies and even the guys get a pass on this one.
Wear flat shoes, or slippers and even boots and sneakers can fly a large brimmed hat and sunglasses will finish the look and make you look great.
Just drink responsibly and have fun speaking of which I should probably give out gifts seeing as it’s the season of love and I do love all of you.
