By SHAMAOMA MUSONDA –
ZAMBIA Squash Association (ZSA) president Norena Chiteba was yesterday given another two-year mandate after going through unopposed during the elective Annual General Meeting (AGM) held in Lusaka.
Joining Chiteba and also going unopposed was Leah Vwalika of Ndola Squash Club who went through as vice president for north replacing Sailas Mahiba.
The AGM held at the National Sports Development Centre (NASDCE) Squash Section, also saw Lusaka Squash Club’s Ernest Chisela ushered into office as vice president for the southern region.
The only position that went through an election was that of general secretary and it saw incumbent Clancy Chauluka dislodged by Chisala Mulenga after a convincing poll victory of 19 votes against the former’s 10.
Chomba Mwansa went through as vice-general secretary while the treasurer will be Chita Kapapa. Mahiba dropped to fixtures secretary north while Jeff Musonda retained his position as fixtures secretary south.
Paul Mulenga was elected as committee member but the ZSA Council decided to amend the constitution in order to have three instead of one committee member and two more members were instantly elected to office.
That allowed former general secretary Chauluka to bounce back into the committee along with Mundashi Mwango.
Meanwhile, Chiteba gladly accepted the ‘vote-of-confidence’ from the members and urged them to stand up to the challenge.
