NKANA have revealed that they had not received any official letters for their Under-23 players to report for training in Lusaka.
Two Nkana players have failed to report for camp this week as the Zambia Under-23 team ended its first five-day training camp in Lusaka ahead for next month’s 2015 All-Africa Games preliminary round, first leg away qualifier against Madagascar.
Nkana spokesperson Cephas Sinyangwe said in an interview that the club had only learnt about the call-ups in the press.
“We have not received any official communication on this matter and we are surprised to be reading these comments in the Press. Going forward it’s important that we engage each other in dialogue instead of rushing to the Press,” Sinyangwe said.
The missing duo is goalkeeper Charles Mweemba and midfielder Chewe Mukuka.
Coach Fighton Simukonda hit out at clubs for holding on to players instead of releasing them for national duty and warned that players, who will not report for camp, risk getting dropped.
