FRENCH President François Hollande has expressed hope that the relations between France and Zambia will intensify following the mandate given to President Edgar Lungu by the Zambian people.
President Hollande said he was hopeful that France and Zambia would continue working together in areas of economics, politics and culture to enhance stability in Africa.
President Hollande said this in a congratulatory letter to Mr Lungu following his election as Zambia’s sixth President.
“Your election gives me an opportunity to salute the friendly ties which unite our two countries since the independence of Zambia,” Mr Hollande said.
This is according to a communiqué circulated yesterday by French Ambassador to Zambia and special representative to the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) Emmanuel Cohet.
President Hollande said he would be pleased to welcome President Lungu in Paris whenever he wishes to.
