WITH the 2015 All Africa Games (AAG) on the horizon, the Zambia Boxing Federation (ZBF) has tailored a programme to build a formidable squad for the quadrennial sports spectacle.
ZBF general secretary Caesar Musuku said the federation would begin the preparations for the year next month when the calendar of events would be unveiled.
Musuku said in an interview in Ndola yesterday that ZBF would hold its annual general meeting (AGM) on February 7 in Kabwe where the technical committee would confirm the 2015 calendar.
He said after the adoption of the calendar, many boxing activities have been lined up with the AAG set Congo Brazzaville later this year being the major highlight.
The ZBF general secretary said the local boxers would compete in the zonal qualifiers for the Pan-African Games.
Musuku said ZBF intend to blend the all-conquering 2014 African Union Sports Commission (AUSC) Region Five Youth Games squad which minted medals in Zimbabwe.
Zambia was represented at the AUSC Region Five Youth Games by lightweight Timothy Chesu, light-welterweight Nkumbu Silungwe, bantamweight Emmanuel Ngoma and flyweight Rabson Tembo.
Chesu and Silungwe struck gold in Zimbabwe while Ngoma and Tembo won silver and bronze medals, respectively.
