SPORTS Permanent Secretary Agnes Musunga has advised injured Chipolopolo star Nathan Sinkala to remain positive.
Musunga, who visited Sinkala at the team hotel, urged the Switzerland-based player not to rush back to the football pitch but ensure he adhered to medical requirements for him to heal well.
“What is important is to have a positive mind and you being here (Equatorial Guinea) even supporting your colleagues as they go on the field is also working. And it is good enough for everybody else to know that you are with them both physically and in spirit. Just know that everybody else is behind you,” Musunga said.
Sinkala tore a ligament in the knee during a Group B match against DR Congo which effectively ruled him out from playing in the ongoing 2015 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
“You don’t have to rush it because we really need this leg to continue performing and I think at home everybody has received this information with sadness. I was speaking with the minister (Chishimba Kambwili) this morning and he is sending his best wishes that you recover very quickly,” she said.
The Permanent Secretary was accompanied by Sports Council of Zambia (SCZ) vice-chairperson Emmanuel Katebe, Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) committee member and delegation leader Happie Munkondya and some Government officials.
Sinkala’s third appearance at the AFCON finals came to an abrupt end after colliding with Congolese striker Yannick Bolasie and in the process tore a ligament.
