A MAN in Ndola has been sentenced to three years in prison with hard labour for stealing a wallet and K420 cash.
Michael Kataki 23, of Makenzi B 16 stole a wallet and K420 from Brian Mutambo at Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe International airport in Ndola.
Ndola High Court Judge-in-Charge Jane Kabuka found Kataki guilty of theft and sentenced him to three years in prison with hard labour.
Kataki pleaded with the court for lenience because he was married with two children and was the breadwinner.
Meanwhile, another man of Ndola was slapped with a three-year sentence by the same court for breaking into a building and stealing.
Chibale Kasongo 21, of Mukulungwe Zulu farm stole three water pumps and a bag of fertiliser all valued at K588.
Kasongo asked the court for leniency through the legal aid counsel and that he was remorseful and ready to reform if given a chance outside prison.
