TWO inmates from Mumbwa State prison have been arrested by the Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) for trafficking in 30 balls of cannabis.
Temwani N’gambi, 29, and Jericho Njobvu were arrested and jointly charged after they were found in possession of the cannabis weighing 12.5 grammes.
Meanwhile, a Tanzanian and three Zambians have been arrested by the DEC for trafficking in cocaine.
DEC public relations officer Theresa Katongo said the four were arrested for trafficking in five sachets of cocaine and 25.3 grammes of cannabis.
Ms Katongo named the three as Omali Saidi, 22, of Manguluweni area in Dar-es-Salaam, Izukanji Chanda, 22, Obi Sinkamba, 29 both of Tindi village in Nakonde and an
18 year-old boy of Kansa area in Kasama.
The four were also found in possession of paraphernalia suspected to be used in administering drugs.
The commission has also arrested Alice Nakanyika, 44, of Shemu Village in Isoka District of Muchinga province for trafficking in 60 bundles of miraa weighing 30.45 kilogrammes.
The Commission in Central Province arrested three women of Luano Valley for trafficking in cannabis.
Ennie Zimba, 47, a peasant farmer of Jordan village was arrested for trafficking in cannabis seeds weighing 26.80 kilogrammes while Bridget Moonga, 19, a peasant farmer of Milimo village was arrested for trafficking in 5.3 kilogrammes of loose cannabis.
Dorcas Hamboza, 35, also a peasant farmer of Spider Village was arrested for trafficking in two kilogrammes of cannabis seeds.
In Kalomo, the Commission has arrested a peasant farmer, Pendrew Siamwinde, 61, of Silumba ‘A’ village in Kalomo for trafficking in 9.73 kilogrammes of cannabis.
Also arrested is Joe Kayongo, 56, a peasant farmer of Mapatizya in Kalomo for trafficking in 3.02 kilogrammes of loose cannabis.
